Umm...
Baked-Cinnamon-Garbage (How-To Guide).

Not that I'm the type to do this sort of thing anyway, but this wouldn't be anywhere NEAR as disturbing without the... er... pictures. (Credit for the link goes to my girlfriend, who exposes me to so many wonderful things on the internet that aren't her fault)

Elemental Savant

I'm replying off topic but there doesn't seem to be a post relating to the current comic.

I've played an Elemental Savant, I was playing one when the rules were changed from 3.0 to 3.5 and speaking from that experience I'll say it's one of the worst classes in 3.5 D&D.

The -2 caster level is manageable and fairly balanced (in the short term) if the prestige class is taken from level 6, I started at level 11 and found the reduced caster level obnoxious.

What made the class bad for me is that your not just better at x-element spells, you can ONLY cast element spells of x-element. In my case that element was fire, eventually I made up for the problem by using metamagic rods of elemental substitution. Before those rods every enemy that knew us knew I could only use fire, so almost every foe we faced had fire immunity or resistance.

Anyway the 10th level can be broken (for air element and only briefly) otherwise (in my opinion) it's craptastic. If you do use it I would suggest focusing on it's flaws.

The character was played from about level 7 till level 21. Luck, good use of spells, and very very good rolled stats kept him alive (he was the character that led to that dm switching from dice rolls to point buy). The prestige class did little more than limit his options.

Oh, I'm very aware of the "only fire" (or whatever) part, even if it didn't fit into that comic. It is a big downgrade from the 3.0 version of the class (which I played in a high-level module - Lord of the Iron Fortress, if you've heard of it - so that I had the class maxxed out, thwarting inumerable of the GMs deadly encounters "nope, I'm immune to crits", "nope, I'm immune to electricity", "nope, I'm immune to...", etc, etc).

I suppose Joe's line of thinking must be that, while being forced to cast spells of only a single element forever would be (as you described) a significant drawback to a reasonable player... it's really not for Dan. Just more metagame minmaxxing :)
