    Time Event
    8:13p
Back from funerial excursion (not a typo; Funerial: of or purtaining to a funeral; though the word may not exist in most dictionaries, some funeral homes use it in advertising).

At the wake (or whatever you call the pre-thing when it is closed-casket), since the funeral proper was not until next day, I was dressed about as informal as I get outside of the house. White mandarin-collared shirt, grey dress-vest and dress-pants. Unexpectedly-many of the men were wearing suit jacket and tie; made me feel like-casually dressed bum. I had packed my "better-than-average" clothes for next day.

One couple brought baby. Baby was not crying; that's a plus. Then, another couple brought smaller baby asleep in carry-seat, who woke up on arrival. Mom observed that to the baby, the carry-seat is like a TARDIS; everytime he wakes up he's in a new time and place. Babies were picked up by parents, each held aloft in "facing-outward" position. Infants were brought close together. I suggested baby-fight. Was ignored.

For day of funeral, wore black double-breasted suit, black dress shirt w/white collar and cuffs, and silver-grey formal tie. As a mark of respect, that's at least 15% more dressed up than I normally am when I, say, go to the grocery store. They gave out nice little white artificial carnations for family. That gave additional 10% bonus to my "formality rating". Circumstances necessitated that I switch to my old (non-tinted) glasses during the service. That should count as +25% for me, but is probably not recognized by most people, since most people don't wear sunglasses for 99% of waking hours. Survived the unnecessary UV exposure, and furthermore, passed my environmental Fortitude saving throws to avoid bursting into flames in the church. Baby in TARDIS arrived and promptly woke up in another strange new world. With pipe-organ music.

Helped comfort mom. Thought of useful business ideas on trip home. Makes trip worthwhile. Eulogy was casually-eloquent too.
